Juan Quilla Laura has been cultivating coffee on his farm, Finca Quillabamba, for eight years. Juan started off working in coffee in 1984 as a day laborer helping other people with their production. From this experience he learned how to cultivate and process cherry and was eventually able to purchase his own land for coffee production.
His farm is in the Sandia Province in Peru's Puno Region. Finca Quillabamba sits around 1800 meters above sea level. The farm is planted in Bourbon with generous spacing between plants.
Sandia is a rugged, beautiful, and hard-to-reach area in the Peruvian Andes with high altitudes and many unique and special microclimates. Coffee from this area is not only some of the best Peru has to offer, but some of the most sought-after coffee in the specialty coffee world.
