This Pink Bourbon lot comes from Cesar Buesaquillo. His farm, La Esmeralda, sits around 1,800 meters above sea level on the western slopes of the Cordillera Central branch of the Andes. Beautiful views abound. He also grows plantain, banana, and avocado, and had lots of shade trees throughout his 6 hectare farm.

Cesar's parents worked in traditional coffee farming as pickers, then farm managers, and eventually bought a farm of their own. Cesar, his wife Maria, and their son now own the farm and manage all operations. Cesar decided to pursue specialty coffee practices and planted Pink Bourbon and Gesha.

Pink Bourbon was first discovered in Acevedo, Huila, Colombia. It has recently been found not to be a Bourbon mutation as originally suspected, but rather genetically linked to Ethiopian landraces. The fruit is pinkish, the seeds are elongated, and the cup is syrupy sweet and floral.

This lot was fermented for 30 hours in water before being pulped, lightly washed, and dried in temperature controlled conditions. The cup is syrupy sweet and has a thick body and concentrated black tea and honeysuckle floral notes along with notes like sugar cane, green apple, and lime.
