Cleveland Brewers Cup
Cleveland Brewers Cup is a coffee brewing competition put on by duck-rabbit and Aviary. The competition will take place at the duck-rabbit coffee roastery March 12, 13, and 14.
Competition details:
competitors buy-in (money goes to coffee, Coffee Water, cash prize)
each competitor receives a kg of competition coffee and 4 Coffee Water mineral packs
competitors are restricted to competition coffee and Coffee Water mineralized distilled water for competition
competitors may use any manual brew devices, filters, grinders, kettles, and trinkets (sieves, boosters, lily drip, melodrip, etc.) of their choosing
2 rounds of competition
Panel of 5 judges
Brews will be assessed against the following criteria: aroma, body, brightness, flavor, clarity, finish, & overall impression and enjoyment
Round 1 will take place on March 12 & 13. Brews will be tasted blind in sets of 3-4. Approx. 5-7 people will advance to Round 2
Round 2 is the final round and will take place on March 14. Competitors will present their brews and offer insights into their process and methods to the panel
A champion and runner-up will be crowned!

Some more details: Feel free to run by us what equipment you plan on using for competition. Competitors can expect us to have water for competition on hand as well as competition coffee. Equipment we will have on hand for competition: Stagg electric kettles, EK43 grinder, Malkonig X53 grinder, Ode Gen 2 grinder, Commadante hand grinder, and many brew devices. Feel free to reach out and inquire about specific equipment. Round 1 timeslots will be announced at least a week prior to competition. If traveling and have preference of Thursday or Friday for Round 1, please reach out and let us know so we can accommodate. Competitors will be able to practice on their day of competition. Round 2 finalists will be named after everyone has brewed on Friday March 13.

brew volume, round 1 competitors will need to brew enough for 2 judges to assess, round 2 finalists will need to brew enough for 5 judges to assess. 4-5 oz. per judge seems reasonable, however if competitors want to make more or less brew available and think that will be sufficient for judges to properly assess, then that is their creative and strategic prerogative. and even more details (2.24):

Coffee Water mineralized water will be provided for competition and will be mineralized as recommended, one packet pair per gallon of distilled water
judges will be using widemouth Kruve glasses for tasting in competition
