Riakiberu, Kenya 12 oz. bag

21.50

Riakiberu Factory is a wet mill in the Muranga District in Kenya’s Central Province. Local coffee farmers are members of Riakiberu. They deliver their ripe coffee fruit to the wet mill for processing. This is an older wet mill, established in the 1950’s, and sits at about 1750 masl., however, much of the coffee processed at the mill is grown at much higher altitudes. (Parchment coffee and washing and soaking tubs pictured)

This coffee is a light roast. Grinding this coffee releases fragrances of grape, loads of unrefined sugars, pie crust, and baking spices. Adding hot water really sweetens up aromas, grape notes are much more prominent, unrefined sugar notes are much more pungent, and smells of citrus rinds and faint florals are brought out. The cup is clean and elegant. It's sweet, has nice acidity and good tartness, and a simple syrup-like body (and sweetness) which makes for lasting sweetness and flavor long after the sip is through. Notes of orange blossom, cranberry, kumquat, and raw sugar.

This coffee is part of our Farm Gate pricing program.
