Karogoto is a coffee mill in Nyeri, Kenya. Nyeri is located in Kenya’s Central Highlands practically on the equator and in the shadow of Mt. Kenya, a stratovolcono and Kenya’s tallest peak. The soil in this area is red volcanic loam, it is rich in nutrients and ideal for growing coffee. Karogoto is part of the Tekangu Farmers Cooperative. Coffee from Kenya is considered the cleanest on the planet. This is due to their meticulous wet processing methods which involves 2 fermentation, 2 washings, and a soaking. The result is the purest expression of varietal and terroir of any coffee on the market. This lot from Karogoto is a peaberry separation.

This coffee is a lighter roast. Dry grounds have the fragrance of raw sugar, raisin, raspberry, and hibiscus. Wet grounds smell so jammy like plum, fig, and berry jams, cardamom and cinnamon accents, and molasses aromas. The cup is big, bright, sweet, and juicy; plum, red grape, and berry flavors are accentuated by a mandarin like tanginess, lemon like acidity, grape skin and cranberry -esk tartness, and cinnamon spice.

This coffee is part of our Farm Gate pricing program.
